what's your song?

Hosted by Goodnight Moon, every Thursday! Be sure to link up!

This week is Feels Like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk. I LOVE this song. It has different meanings to me (one of them being with the sorority I used to be apart of) but it's another song that makes me think of E. Being with him and being in his arms really feels like home to me. I also think this will be our first dance song at our wedding in like 3 weeks (yikes!)

E also got us an apartment in Texas. It just so happens to be by a road called Bacon Ranch Road. Bahahaha...sounds like Texas, all right!

And for some reason, Blogger deleted all of the wonderful bloggers that I have been following, yet I still have followers! I don't get it...working on re-following everyone again!

wordy wednesday.

My goal today was to start packing, but then I couldn't get any free moving boxes. I waited too late in the day. My wedding bands also came in, so instead I ventured out to have my ring fixed and then spent some time in the shopping area by Jared.

Still a gap, but it looks SO much better in my opinion. I did notice that there is a slightly larger gap in the lower left corner than the other corners, which is weird because the center diamonds on the bands are lined up perfectly with the points on the engagement ring stone. I think that band for some reason is shaped slightly different...but I honestly do not care! Looking at the ring in person, you can barely see it. And I am very happy with how my ring looks now, and my happiness is all that matters because I'll be wearing it :)

The side diamonds match up a lot better, too :) Still not perfect, but the other one went waaay past the side diamonds of the engagement ring. It looked really funny. This still is not a perfect match, but it looks a lot better.

I honestly think the other enhancer took away from my ring. These bands enhance it. This is the closest I can get to the ring without having to do a custom (and with gold being $1500/ounce now, forget it!). I am very happy with it :)

My room is completely torn up from trying to sort things out for packing. You can tell I'm making A LOT of progress hahaha. I'm normally NOT this messy!

25 facts about meeee

I don't know if I can do 100 facts, only because I am not all that interesting haha. Here are 25, though.

1. I am a REGISTERED NURSE. I still love being able to say that! I'm still unemployed, though :( I'm hoping I can find a job really soon, because now there is a lot of stress of being able to start my life together with E when we move down to Texas (we have nothing...like no furniture or anything...just a couple of beds!) and all of my money is going towards the wedding and that is dwindling...

2. I am married to the love of my life and best friend. We were seriously made for each other and I thank God every day for being able to meet such a wonderful man. A lot of people have told me that I am a very lucky girl to have someone like my husband who is very honest and treats me well. We never argue. I agree, I am very lucky ♥

3. Although I do not really look like it, I am half Chinese & half Polish.

4. I hate ketchup, mustard & mayo

5. I also hate salad dressing. The only kinds I will eat is the ginger-carrot dressing served at Japanese restaurants/sushi bars and this spicy lemongrass dressing from a local Thai restaurant.

6. Purple, aqua blue & pink are my favorite colors. I also love animal print!

7. I am currently reading the book "Lipstick in Afghanistan" and I LOVE it! Definitely a must-read, especially for all of you nurse/nursing student blogger friends :)

8. I am pretty shy & quiet at first, but once you get to know me I open up.

9. I HATE public speaking. I had to take that class in college, and it was awful haha.

10. I graduated with honors with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

11. I can talk about blood, guts & poop all over a delicious lunch, and it doesn't phase me! Then again I think all nurses can do this lol

12. I moved around a lot while growing up. I've lived in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Wisconsin and now Ohio. Soon I will be living in Texas. I also call Connecticut my home away from home because all of my family lives there, and soon my mom will be moving back there.

13. My nicknames are Mel, Mella & Melosaur haha.

14. I used to be a 1st degree blackbelt in Taekwondo. I quit, mainly because of school and since I moved to ohio, I didn't like the TKD school that I went to. I REALLY miss it though, and would love to get back into it, even if I have to start all over.

15. I was pretty much a tomboy my whole life and didn't really start wearing makeup or anything "girly" until I went to college.

16. I used to be a member of a social sorority, but quit because I couldn't afford dues any more and nursing school sucked up all of my time.

17. I was a band geek in middle & high school. Clarinet was my main instrument, but I also played mellophone, oboe & french horn.

18. I'm addicted to frozen yogurt :)

19. Before I wanted to be a nurse, I wanted to be a veterinarian.

20. I would much rather wear flats or flip flops than heels.

21. I love wearing skirts and dresses, but I hate how my legs look in shorts.

22. I'm addicted to social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter - comes follow me @wh0aitsmel - and Blogger!)

23. My first CD was Spice Girls "Wannabe" haha.

24. I'm addicted to coffee and drink at least 4cups/day (usually about 6)

25. At this point, I still have ABSOLUTELY NO desire to have any kids, but I'm 23 years young (I'll be 24 in October, ick!). Maybe this mindset will change in a couple of years.

getting to know ME!

1. What is something you've eaten & liked but didn't think you would?
sushi! my dad & my brother went to Chicago to visit one of my dad's close friends and they were going out to eat at Bistro Wasabi. They warned me that they were having sushi, and at that point I had no desire to try it, but I wanted to come along anyway. The appetizer they put in front of me was a tuna carpaccio (seared, raw ahi tuna) and oh man, I tore that shiz up! afterwards I eating sashimi and sushi rolls left and right :)

2. Plastic surgery: yay or nay?
yay, because I want some boobies! I've got none :(

3. Two things you love about spring are:
warm weather and the greenery!

4. When was the last time you went on a picnic?
not a legit picnic, but it was like a picnic...this was when we were at the beach at Seabrook (SC).

5. What is your favorite app?
other than my social networking apps (Facebook & Twitter), I would have to go with USA Today, Wikidroid and Jewels lol (basically like Bejeweled)

6. Who does the grocery shopping in the house?
both of us

7. Would you rather take a spin class or Zumba?
I've never tried Zumba, but I'm sure I would like that more than a spin class.

8. How often do you go out to dinner?
a couple of times a week at most...since I have been at Fort Leonard Wood, that is like ALL we have been doing. E refused to buy food and stock up his man cave because he is leaving tomorrow, and unfortunately as far as restaurants go, there isn't much here. It's hard to eat healthy when I'm here. When his parents & sister came in on Saturday night, we went to The Hub (German/American restaurant)...yesterday we went out *twice* (El Jimador for lunch and then to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner) and tonight we're going out somewhere again to celebrate but I don't know what. I at least try to watch what I eat and keep my meals at no more than 500 calories each. I never go out to each this much on a regular basis, I swear!

happy military monday!

:)

E's MPBOLC graduation was also today, how fitting for Military Monday! I couldn't be more proud of him :)

Saturday, April 16, 2011

I only got to snap 2 pictures at military ball last night (well, bravo company's "graduation banquet" but set up exactly how a military ball would be) before my camera broke :(

"I'm in uniform, therefore I don't like to smile" lol. My dress is definitely PURPLE but it looks blue in this picture. Stupid camera!

Aaaand some of the guys. I love E's face hahaha.

E apparently finished 8 out of 42 LT's in his class, which I think is outstanding. He made it into the top 10. I'm so proud of him! Earlier on Thursday (before I arrived) they had their right of passage ceremony at the MP Memorial Grove. They are now official MP lieutenants, they just haven't officially graduated from MPBOLC yet. Graduation is on Monday :)

As for my camera, I had it in a wristlet and accidentally leaned on it with my elbow...therefore I broke the screen :(

It still snaps pictures and everything, but the screen is totally F'ed up and you can't see anything. This was actually a pretty crappy camera anyway. It was a red Kodak EasyShare 8.2 megapixel camera that I got for like $50. I guess it was time to buy a new one.

So I did! It's a black Samsung one, 12 megapixels and one of the guys I was talking to at the PX highly recommended it. I only paid $110 for it (including a 2GB SD card) which I think is pretty cheap. And no sales tax, either! That's what I love about the PX :)

what's your song?

I'm back in Fort Leonard Wood, and I made it safe and sound :)

I left at around 0445ish this morning and got here at 1530 (1430 central time). Eddie assumed that he would be done by noonish but of course that didn't happen lol...he wasn't done until around 1645ish. So I went to the PX and uh...yeah. Drove around. So much to do! haha.

I'm so happy to see him :) We're planning on getting Korean food with some friends tonight. Tomorrow is milball and Monday is his MPBOLC graduation! I'm so proud of him :)

Once again, Goodnight Moon is hosting a weekly "What's Your Song?" link-up. Head over to her blog to participate!

This week I chose "One and Only" by ADELE, because I think it is a beautiful song and I honestly CANNOT stop listening to her! She describes her style as "heartbroken soul" which I think sums it up pretty well. When you can't describe how your feeling, Adele just kind of puts it all in a song for you, if that makes sense.
