day 3 - how we met

Day 3: Post a picture of how you met. Did you know then that you'd be where you are with him today?

We met at college. Not at this building, but this is a picture of part of the campus.

E actually requested to be my friend on Facebook before I even moved into the dorm I was living in that year (which was the townhouses). One of my roommates knew him. One day all of us (as in my 4 other roommates and E's 5 other roommates) met and E and I instantly hit it off together. The chemistry was definitely there :)

I honestly knew that I would be where I am now with him, and he felt the same way :)

military photo challenge days 1 & 2

I saw that Beckie @ Turn for the Nurse was doing this and I thought it was a cool idea. Katie @ Every Day That You're Away is doing a link-up for this photo challenge! Here are days 1 & 2, I'll include 3 when I have more time.

Day 1: Post a photo of your military SO and list 10 facts about him.

lol I love this picture of E, from his ROTC days.

1. E drives a Subaru WRX and absolutely loves it. I joke around with him and tell him it's his girlfriend because of how he is with it. He loves cars in general and wants to race someday. He keeps talking about bringing his car to a track or bringing it to the Nuremberg Speedway in Germany. He has already tuned his car which is now as fast as a stock Subaru STI. He used to own a '96 Mustang GT and spent way too much money on that car lol.

2. E is a middle sibling. He has an older sister who is 24 (and she is married to an Airman!) and a younger brother who is 20.

3. E is a beer connoisseur. He loves craft beers and IPAs.

4. E is also a Chipotle addict. The closest Chipotle from him is 2 hours away. He drove one day just to get it

5. Although E hasn't been in the Army for long (he's a newly commissioned 2LT) he is a great soldier. I couldn't be more proud of him!

6. E loooooves anything and everything spicy!

7. Playing video games is one of his favorite past-times.

8. back home he has a german shepherd named Mercedes :) Unfortunately we can't take her once we PCS to our new duty station, so we're going to get a shepherd of our own :)

9. E's guilty junk food vice is Flamin' Hot Cheetos.

10. E graduated with a bachelor's in political science, associate's in criminal justice and minor in military science.

Day 2: post a picture of you and your military SO being silly

Lol we do not really have any silly pictures!

FLW: Day 1 1/2

For some reason my other post deleted my little blurb about what I did yesterday in FLW.

I drove all day yesterday and actually made good timing - left at around 0615 and got here around 1600, Missouri time. I had to wait awhile because E had a briefing from some Army general about how four officers got DUI's this past weekend (not in FLW, I guess just throughout the Army).

We went to Seoul Garden with Zaieed, a member of the Saudi Arabian Royal Guard (they guard the royal family) and Mingo, another 2LT. Zaieed and three other members from the SARG are here training with the Army to learn tactics and other things. Dinner was delicious, we tried some sushi which was good but the Korean food was amazing! I got my usual kimchi jjigae and E tried the yook gae jang (which is a spicy shredded beef soup with clear noodles and other veggies). Zaieed got this seafood pancake (similar to kimchi pancakes only with chunks of seafood, including octopus...mmm) and Mingo got some spicy chicken bulgogi. The meal came with traditional Korean banchan or side dishes, and they had a new one that I tried - lotus root. it was soooooo good...can't really describe it but it was very sweet and tasty :)

After dinner we went to Zaieed's house and met his cousin and another member of the SARG. I tried some Arabic tea, which tasted a lot like honey, but oh my it was so good! Then we smoked hookah lol - double apple rose (which tasted different than the one I had back at the Firefly and the Miraj....this one had a strong licorice aftertaste) and grape, which was my favorite. I haven't smoked hookah in who knows how long.

Afterwards we went to The Blackjack Lounge on-post so that E could play some pool. He remained undefeated with his partner, but at one point I told him to either lose (lol) or to have him give me his room key so I could go back. I only got 3 hours of sleep the night before and was exhausted and cranky. We went back, I showered, and passed out.

Today we went to El Jimador, drove around FLW, spent a bunch of money at the commissary and then played some Black Ops Nazi zombies :D

MilSpouse Friday Fill-in!

Hosted by Wife of a Sailor! Sorry I'm a day late. I spent all day yesterday driving to Missouri and now I'm back in Fort Leonard Wood with E :D <3>
And now for this week's questions.

1. Do you or your {spouse} ever wish your {spouse} was in a different branch of the military? submitted by The Turner Family

Not at all!

2. What duty station(s) are on your “No Way, Hell No, Not Going, Have Fun Unaccompanied” list and why? submitted by Every Branch

I've only been to Fort Leonard Wood and although I like coming here because E is here for the time being, there isn't much to do around here :/ Most of the exciting stuff is either in Springfield or St. Louis, which are both 2 hours away. FLW has some kick-ass Korean restaurants, tho :)

3. If you could be one age forever, what age would you choose and why? submitted by Three Krakens

I don't know, I wouldn't want to stay a certain age forever. Sometimes I miss being a kid because nothing really mattered back then. Sometimes being an adult sucks. But I love where I am in life right now.

4. If you were a breakfast cereal, which one would you be? submitted by the C.W.

My favorite...Special K Berries :)

5. What is your morning beverage of choice and why? submitted by NH Girl Displaced

Depends on if I have to leave in the morning or if I'm just hanging around. If I'm just hanging around, I'll make some coffee in the pot (Folger's Dark Roast) or use my roommate's Keurig (which I love! I like the original Caribou K-cups). Sometimes that isn't enough coffee, though (I like anywhere from 4-6 cups/day!). If I'm heading out, I like to get Starbucks' Pike Place Roast and I just bring my own creamer - I love the hazelnut or coconut cream kind :)

ring link-up!

Mrs. Yellow Ribbon is doing a "Show Me Your..." link-up and this week...it's RINGS! I love looking at everyone's rings :) Here are mine:

the center diamond is a princess cut but rotated on its side. they call that style a baseball diamond.

I'm wedding band-less because I have teeny-tiny size 4 fingers, and the original band that E bought was a size 8. Jared told us they can't size the ring down that far, so I had to order the band in a smaller size. They told me it was supposed to come in the beginning of February. I'm still waiting -_- But, here is my band (click to enlarge):

The two rings will have to be cut and flipped around then re-sautered together so that the curve goes inward and matches better with my ring...my ring has such a weird curve to it that it's hard to find a band that looks good with it without having to do a custom, which for one band would have been $1700 (which is outrageous) and for two, over $3000 (even more outrageous).

Did you look at rings together?
Actually, no. I did send E pictures of styles that I liked. We shopped for wedding bands together, though.

Do you like your ring? Did you from the beginning? ...Be honest!
I loved my ring from the beginning and still do! It was a different style than the ones that I showed him, and his choice blew me away. I also love what he did with the center diamond because I have never seen a ring like that before. He told me he saw it and didn't like it, then told them to rotate the diamond on the side. I absolutely love it! And I get a lot of compliments on it, too :)

How often do you wear your rings?
I don't wear them to work (I am thinking about buying a either a plain band one or one with a few diamonds) because I'm so scared that something will happen to it! I also don't wear it when I shower. Otherwise, it stays on!

Do you clean your rings?
I have jewelry cleaner, but I usually just have Jared's clean it when I'm in the area. I also get it checked every 6 months and I also check it myself by holding it up to my ear and lightly "tapping" the band. A friend taught me that if you hear a little jingle or clanking sound, that means something is loose. One day I did it, heard something and sure enough it was loose!

What went through your mind the very first time you saw your ring?
It's so pretty and sparkly!!! And also too big lol (the size, I mean! I actually got it resized twice since I got it lol)

what's your song link-up, round 2!

Hosted by Goodnight Moon :)

This week is "Perfect Two" by Auburn (same artist who sings the song La La La).
It's another love song that reminds me of E.
I think the lyrics are so cute!

You can be the peanut butter to my jelly
You can be the butterflies I feel in my belly
You can be the captain and I can be your first mate
You can be the chills that I feel on our first date

You can be the hero and I can be your side kick
You can be the tear that I cry if we ever split
You can be the rain from the cloud when it's stormin'
Or you can be the sun when it shines in the mornin'

Don't know if I could ever be
Without you cause boy you complete me
And in time I know that we'll both see
That we're all we need

Cause you're the apple to my pie
You're the straw to my berry
You're the smoke to my high
And you're the one I wanna marry

Cause you're the one for me, for me
And I'm the one for you, for you
And take the both of us, of us
And we're the perfect two

We're the perfect two
We're the perfect two
Baby me and you
We're the perfect two

You can be the prince and I can be your princess
You can be the sweet tooth, I can be the dentist
You can be the shoes and I can be the laces
You can be the heart that I spill on the pages

You can be the vodka and I can be the chaser
You can be the pencil and I can be the paper
You can be as cold as the winter weather
But I don't care as long as we're together

Don't know if I could ever be
Without you cause boy you complete me
And in time I know that we'll both see
That we're all we need

'Cause you're the apple to my pie
You're the straw to my berry
You're the smoke to my high
And you're the one I wanna marry

Cause you're the one for me, for me
And I'm the one for you, for you
And take the both of us, of us
And we're the perfect two

We're the perfect two
We're the perfect two
Baby me and you
We're the perfect two

You know that I'll never doubt ya
And you know that I think about ya
And you know I can't live without ya

I love the way that you smile
And maybe in just a while
I can see me walk down the aisle

'Cause you're the apple to my pie
You're the straw to my berry
You're the smoke to my high
And you're the one I wanna marry

Cause you're the one for me, for me
And I'm the one for you, for you
And take the both of us, of us
And we're the perfect two

We're the perfect two
We're the perfect two
Baby me and you
We're the perfect two
